Moving Glass Designs

My textile prints could be applied to a functional glass item in which two components overlap, allowing layering of my designs. This means they will have practical purpose and make an everyday object decorative and visually stimulating.

Possible Functions:

• Automatic sliding doors
• Extending table top
• Folding room divider

These settings have sliding doors with large panels of glass which my prints would fill. Lots of natural sunlight would flood through from outside to illuminate the colours.

Coloured Glass Panels

 

The doors are along major walls of the building, where attractive patterns in glass would be a stunning feature. The new art schools main entrance would establish a sense of creativity from the moment of arrival and forms a good first impression

 A sliding tabletop in which the surface extends out or decreases depending on use would create different juxtapositions of pattern. Although glass may be inappropriate for type of activities in the art building.

Astrolabe is battery operated and remote controlled extendable table, with the mechanism purposely visible to create a futuristic, mechanical character.  The beautiful polished glass top means it has a elegant, modern appearance and radiates light.

I considered a room divider made of panels which fold together or open out to adjust the size so that different images combine.

This colourful room divider is made of transparent plastic panels which can be hung together in a various ways to control the size and shape.

I love the fact that this divider is delicate and not imposing on the room due to its openwork design. I would create a glass screen with thin, transparent layers of fabric for a subtle appearance. It would feature pale colours which become bolder as they overlap.

Multi-purpose screen also functioning as a light source, providing soft illumination perfect for mood lighting or to brighten a reading area.
