Interior Context

Visualising the proposed end uses of my final samples in Photoshop. My designs are very elaborate and have been embellished with beads, eyelets and hook and eye fastenings. Therefore they will look best applied to simple forms, such as lampshades or cushion covers, allowing the design to be clearly displayed in a room. It is successful as a lampshade, since a mundane functional product is transformed into a decorative feature.  

Cushion Covers

My cushion designs look striking when placed on plain sofas, with the rich colour palette adding a sense of energy and opulence.

 

 

  Experimentations I tried to test the outcome:

• Both dark and light shades of sofas
• Matching or contrasting the cushion and seating colours
• Using modern and traditional seat designs
• Placing cushion singly as the main focus or with other cushions in the same or alternative design.
• I could experiment more with Layout on the cushion, positioning design at the corner or side instead of central.

Lampshades

The wavy, flowing shapes are dynamic and generate a feeling of movement which conveys the energy and waves of light from a lamp. 

 

This elegant motif on a glass diamond-shaped stand creates a stylish lamp and calming atmosphere due to the cool greys, purples and spacing around the design.

A more traditional lamp with a wood and gold base which matches the warm, rich fabrics. The long cylindrical shape and edges in a corresponding colour emphases the design and provides a neat finish.  

 

A straightforward lamp with sturdy base makes it suitable for the everyday home. The neutral shades with small hints of bold colour means it will match any room and introduce a burst of energy.  

 

This large modern floor lamp would be a prominent and unique design feature in a spacious living room or hallway. The simple sculptural base compliments the design by reflecting the smooth curving motifs and circles.
