These are an improved series of drawings since I used a drawing board to remove the grainy wall texture and made precise lines instead of ambiguous sketchy marks. I experimented with black backgrounds so the parasol is viewed in negative. This looks effective as the surrounding darkness is atmospheric and creates a strong, vivid image. To create my large-scale drawing, I placed the squares together which looks striking as it clearly displays a contrast of light and dark.
