Screen-Prints

"Full Moon", 1999

My prints were inspired by Paul Klee’s paintings which feature a pattern of coloured squares with more refine abstract markings over the top to define the image. Likewise my mono-print background in which blocks of vivid colour are placed next to each other based on the layout of a book shelf. I then screen-printed patterns and book details which forms an effective combination of hand-painted and blended dyes with precise imagery.

Some areas of the mono-print did not transfer onto fabric, however this produces an interesting result since blank spaces are filled with colour and design when the prints are layered.
