Project Brief: Submit work to be shown on
their exhibition space in store, located outside the women’s fitting room on
the first floor. Any type of wall-mounted work is acceptable.
Visualisation of artwork
The specified wall has wooden panels and is
divided into sections. I recreated this space on Photoshop in order to envisage
my work displayed.
Artwork Statement: This collection of work was inspired by
the Industrial Revolution, which was significant in Manchester as the world’s
first Industrial city. The complex designs developed from textile machinery at
the Museum of Science and Industry, making them appropriate for display in a
clothes shop. The circular motifs resemble the machines rotating cogs and small
metal parts. They are decorative and elaborate with several featuring floral
motifs, very suitable for the location outside a women’s fitting room. The
drawings are also geometric and precise, which means they are very striking and
would appeal to a wide audience. Urban Outfitters is known to sell distinctive,
creative clothing, and so the store would benefit from this distinctive,
creative artwork.
